Stephen has always dreamed of owning his own bar, and this year, he has been supported to make his dream come true.
‘I’m very excited; I feel like a VIP, which is a very important person. I’m glad at last my dream has come true, and I own a bar now. I’m already excited for the next big thing, which will be the Kings Coronation’. – Stephen, person we support.
Making Stephen’s dream come true has been a combined effort from Stephen, his support team, his friends and house-mates. Everyone has worked hard together to fulfil Stephen’s life by creating his very own bar, known as ‘Bar 52’.
The bar was built from a shed in the back garden, which was modified and decorated by Dave (person we employ) and Stephen’s friend Darien, who we also support. In addition, the bar has been filled with upcycled gifts from Stephen’s house-mates, who wanted him to have a truly unique bar:
‘Building the bar at 52 was really good. I enjoyed it. My favourite part was building it, I like building stuff. Dave was really good with me, telling me how to do everything – Darien.
‘It’s been an amazing team build for us all; everyone from the people we support and the people we employ have all been involved and played their own part. The opening event was great. It was amazing to see Stephen’s face and the Millennium community coming together to celebrate this achievement.’ – Team 52.
Not one to stop moving forward, Stephen is now looking into brewing his own beer!
A huge well done to everyone for making this happen. This is truly something to be incredibly proud of!
Here’s to many more happy hours at Bar 52!
